The Little Schoolhouse

In one of New Haven, Connecticut’s best communities, the Westville Community, The Little Schoolhouse opened it doors and was officially established in January of 2008 by Mimi Bryant. We offer two programs, infant/toddler and preschool. As more families enrolled and children expressed their thoughts about their interests, the school began to follow and adopt Dr. Marie Montessori’s theory of “natural intelligence” and Howard Gardner’s theory of “eight intelligences.” Then the school found its mission is to have staff guide children in developing their minds to become creative and critical thinkers. Staff supports children’s interests through their navigation of learning experiences in all the domains – cognitive, social-emotional, physical and creative development. Staff is aggressive about nurturing young children’s inherent curiosity as they work at developing their natural intelligence, building their concentration, their independence and confidence.
